New video online!

posted by JE

We have added a new BSR-clip to our YouTube-Channel. The song is called "we used to be in light (exodus part two)" and will be featured on our second album "light is the new black", which is going to be released on the 16th of march 2012. The video was - once again - produced by our very talented friend Blood Meridian. We beg your patience, it's a pretty long track, but definitely worth the trip. Lay back, turn up, enjoy ... see you in SPACE.

New song online!

posted by JE

Alright! I have just been uploading the first advance-track of our upcoming album for you. We have chosen a plain, pushing, fast but "accessible" Rocker to start with called "STARTROOPER". There won't be "the ONE representative song" on the album ... to get the whole idea you will have to listen to the complete album anyway ;) So, start right now, turn it up and enjoy! If you like it leave your comments and share! Thank you. JE

BLACK SPACE RIDERS: Light is the new black

posted by JE

Good news: Our NEW album "Light is the new black" is going to be released on the 16th of march 2012. Back Space Riders will be heavily supported by our partners brainstorm records, Rough Trade Distribution and x-why-z Konzertagentur. We will offer a Deluxe-Vinyl-Double-Album (gatefold sleeve, 180g, PLUS CD, PLUS Bonustrack) and a very nice CD-Digipak-Version. Musically you will find "diversification" on the record: heavy, hard, hypnotic walls of sound change to atmospheric passages, followed by driving rockers and sternomastoid anthems. We recorded three-minute-punch-ups as well as slowly rising and long epics. There is whispering, singing, crooning, screaming and yelling. A one hour trip into the depths of the universe: watch out!

New review in "Doom Metal front" (German)

written by Florian Friedrich (Doom Metal Front)

Guter Einstand! (FF)

Black Space Riders - S/T
Sound Guerilla
8

The only problem I ever had with Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction and their duct tape-barbiturates-and-zero-moral-code approach to greaserdelic barbarian fuck-rock was that they weren't from outer space. Well, Germany's own Black Space Riders have ably sutured that gaping plot hole with this remarkable debut. There's a "Total vision" at work here - it's a concept album, with suites and trilogies, instrumentals and spoken word passages, and all of it, every last second, is about...riding through black space.
Musically, BSR zoom deftly between Hawkwind-y space-prog and Zod-like used-leather thunder with the odd dash of down-tuned grunge and dollops of thick, greasy acid-funk. The band's Teutonic stoicism - even when belting out cartoonish hellraiser anthems like "Stoned Bikers in Space" and "Ride On, Black Space Rider" only compounds the delightful absurdity/awesomeness of it all. A full-tilt gonzo piece of work, Black Space Rider is easily my favorite record of the year - the year being 2069, of course.
