DIE 8 — new album out 13 November 2026

Founded in Münster in late 2008, Black Space Riders emerged from a deep desire to liberate heavy rock music from rigid genre boundaries, infusing it with emotion, psychedelia, and artistic consistency. What began in a dark rehearsal room quickly evolved into an intense live phenomenon—sweaty, high-energy concerts drenched in a shared, all-encompassing energy between the band, the music, and the audience.

Through pioneering albums like Light Is The New Black (2012), the raw, introspective milestone D:REI (2014), and the mature, melancholic Refugeeum (2015), the band built a deeply loyal, international fanbase. Respected for their uncompromising DIY attitude, they have always released their albums independently as part of a collectively grown movement. Following a pandemic-induced hiatus and their celebrated comeback We Have Been Here Before (2022), Black Space Riders are entering their next major chapter in 2026.

After the painful departure of founding member and second guitarist SLI, the band reinforced their lineup from within their own ranks: their long-time audio engineer π—deeply connected to the band and already responsible for recording and mixing the predecessor—stepped in as an additional guitarist, strengthening the unit for their new, eighth album.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered in π’s own studio, the new work, simply titled Die 8, channels a fresh, untamed energy. It presents itself as a shining, eclectic bastard bursting with playfulness, ingenuity, and attention to detail. Blending the best of multiple genres and different decades, the band shapes a sonic world entirely their own: psychedelic, heavy, danceable, at times delicate, at times fierce, but always deeply atmospheric, urgent, fluid, and accessible.

Conceptually, Die 8 acts as the cartography of a creeping decay. It delivers the logs of a relay station at the outermost edge—be it in a distant galaxy or within the digital and social networks of our here and now.

Across eleven frequencies, we navigate a world where the boundaries between the human mind and algorithmic control are eroding. We encounter the static of the masses, the arrogance of power, and the leaden silence of isolation. Yet, amidst the dystopia, an echo stirs: a ritualistic resistance, a mantra against the cold, an attempt to preserve one’s dignity in the dust of history. It is a play with the final eight minutes of light before the sun—or civilization—burns out on the horizon. Beyond the vastness, the end of time ultimately awaits: a rapturous, unstoppable surge in lockstep, followed by the bitter realization of our own systemic inertia.

But where chronology finally shatters and we look doom right in the eye, the unexpected happens: the 8 bends into a sideways infinity. For the end of humanity is not the end of everything. The station sinks, everything dissolves into infinite energy—and a new cycle begins.
